Well, we are experiencing winter. It’s between 5-10 degrees and it’s really grey grey grey. So we mostly enjoy the company of our friends cooking away. We might be serious competition to http://dansgoodgrub.blogspot.com/, with our stuffed peppers and meat balls, chocolate cookies or tiramisu.
We watch movies, listen to music and have very intellectual talks. The outcome can be found in the pages RECENT and STILL TO SEE.
Fortunately we have visitors with whom we go out, explore the city in a different dimension wearing absolutely all sweaters we could find.
We’re waiting for the warmth! To check Cph weather from the satellite go to : Weather in Copenhagen
There are 2 streets of this kind in Norrebro ( probably there are more but these are the most recognizable): Blågårdsgade and Jaegersborggade. What they have in common is this kind of warmth and closeness of a community where everybody feels welcome. The latter one ‘throws’ events literally on the street probably more often than Blågårdsgade but they also have a lesser impact. What we experienced on the Street Festival was live music with great bands, colorful decorations, people of different ages dancing and having chats what made everybody feel as a part of a community.
Surprisingly, the party was going on for the whole day as the organizers predicted: it was the same spirit from 14 until midnight; only the sky had changed its color. We loved it!
It was a rare occasion: seldom does it happen that a work of a graffiti artist is presented in an actual gallery. This was such an event and what we expected is graffiti in a form of paintings nicely and orderly presented on the walls.
The event in Sankt Hans Gade 19 was visible from far away- quite a big crowd gathered outside of the “We are related” Gallery having chats, sipping beers. It was a particular crowd; one could easily say that they knew what graffiti is and were familiar with the “GH” ( Ghost’s famous Tag in the NYC Subway).
The exhibition was exactly what we expected: colorful graffiti forms in a more organized way ( our favorites were those made on actual subway leaflets). We could say: ” we kinda liked it but it didn’t kill us”. What we missed was a diversity of styles that we know that Ghost is capable of ( just go on http://www.cousinfrank.com/ ) but on the other hand the whole exhibition was amazingly coherent. Despite everything, the question whether Graffiti is ART will stay unsolvable…!

Everytime I meet the Hello Cph crew we do something new and exciting. This time we had a photoshoot ( still a bit of a hush-hush thing) and coffee in Cafe Dyrehaven. Really oldschool place- one has a feeling that is disturbing the hunters in their weekendly escapade to the forest when you enter this cosmic space from another times ( 60s/70s). Nice coffee, food seemed good ( I just had a croissant and it is highly recommendable!) and the prices were not to high.
Then we had a trouble looking for a present for another member of Hello Copenhagen crew that had joined recently and already had a great energy input into the whole dynamics.
The first idea was a poster from an exhibition at the V1 Gallery in the Meatpacking District, showing the work of a young British artist and called ” The body language”. Very very good impressions, however, no poster.
Due to the fact that our friend likes music and calls himself a dj, we thought we might get him a vinyl record, what required going to a record store. It turned out to be also a cafe. The name of it indicates it clearly : Kaffe and Vinyl. We found what we were looking for, and biked all in different directions. Thankfully the weather was nice and we got to spend it outside with friends, coffee and bikes- pure essence of Copnehagen
The past times were full of extraordinary events that are still hard to comprehend or to believe in. Plane crashes, vulcano explosions, being trapped in a 21hour or longer bus rides to whatever destination one wanted to get to. All in all, everybody should be finally where they were supposed to be a week ago ( supposedly vulcano is not of danger anymore) and we can start our lives again.
Copenhagen is slowly blooming, doing better than ever, so are kanelsnegl’s friends. When the vulcano decided to suddenly throw out tons of ash, Marc Jacobs opened a new website for Danish costumers. The opening took place 2 days ago and as we all can imagine, it was fabulous. So where those people.

Kanelsnegl is ready to rock again.
The biggest difference between Warsaw and Copenhagen? Prices, variety of food and no-bike culture. The last one is not entirely true, because I happen to know where they were selling bikes just on Sunday. However, prices- much lower, food, coffee, books… Amount of corner shops with absolutely everything is so big that it strikes me, and you can find there absolutely everything: from bread, cheese, ham to fresh carrot juice for about 9dkk!
What is funny though, is that people here are completely different. They should be happy, they do not seem so. Some 20 year-olds yesterday decided to cover their faces with sunglasses even though there was NO SUN. As my friend would say: chilled. Another difference- everything here is about Easter, people do not work on Monday, they start preparing for cooking, talk about going to church…
